Hillary Thing, LAc., Clinic Director

There is a saying in Chinese medicine, “Know the form.  Forget the form.”  The past 25 years has been a journey of ever-deepening understanding of the process of healing – how and why we heal… or at times struggle with this process.  For me, supporting others in reclaiming health involves knowing the body in it’s miraculous minutia and wonderous multi-systems complexity, while at the same time leading each unique healing journey with spirit and intuition.  I am humbled by the human will not only to survive, but to thrive, which I witness in my patients every day.  Together, with the forces of nature as wind at our backs, we do the detective work, problem-solving, leaning into challenges, and tuning into the body that is required to heal.  Generating life force energy and eradicating illness in this way often leads to lasting vibrant health!

Pam Gould, Registered Herbalist (AHG)

It is an honor to help others on their healing journey. I am a Registered Herbalist with the American Herbalists Guild (RH, AHG), digestive and hormone educator, and midlife mentor with more than 20 years of clinical experience and over 30 years of study and experience with herbal medicine.

My approach blends traditional Western herbalism with Traditional Chinese Medicine energetics and herbs, along with nutritional support, digestive health, mineral balancing, nervous system support, and practical lifestyle strategies. I believe deeply in the wisdom of traditional herbal medicine, while also drawing from modern research and functional approaches to help make sense of complex health patterns.

My work with chronic illness is both professional and deeply personal. My own experience with Lyme disease, along with helping both my children navigate Lyme and complex health challenges, led me to specialize in tick-borne disease and complex chronic conditions. Today, my children are thriving young adults, but I remember well the uncertainty and confusion that can come when you are trying to help someone you love heal, or when you are trying to find your own way back to wellness. That experience became an important part of why I chose to help others navigate this often complicated path with greater clarity, understanding, and support.

Over the years, I have worked extensively with Lyme and co-infections, mold exposure, parasites, gut dysfunction, chronic inflammation, and the many layers that can keep someone from feeling well. I am very comfortable navigating the complicated clinical presentations that often accompany chronic Lyme and other complex illnesses, where multiple infections, mold or environmental exposures, digestive dysfunction, immune dysregulation, nervous system stress, and depleted nutritional or mineral reserves may all be present at the same time. My herbal and foundational work is an important complement to the treatment of underlying infections, helping to strengthen resilience, support detoxification and elimination, calm inflammation, rebuild digestive and nutritional foundations, and help the body better tolerate and respond to treatment.

I also have a particular passion for supporting women through midlife, menopause, and beyond. I understand personally as well as professionally that tick-borne illness and other chronic health challenges can make an already complicated midlife health journey even muddier. Is this hormonal? Is it inflammation? Gut health? Stress? Mineral depletion? An unresolved infection? Often, there isn’t one simple answer. That is why I look at the whole person rather than an isolated symptom or diagnosis. Hormones, digestion, sleep, stress, nervous system health, inflammation, minerals, metabolic health, toxic burden, and underlying infections can all be pieces of the same puzzle.

Education is an important part of how I work. I love taking complicated health information and making it understandable so clients better understand what their bodies are asking for and feel empowered to participate in their own healing.

I believe true wellness is about more than chasing symptoms or identifying the next thing that is “wrong.” It is about understanding the patterns, strengthening the foundations of health, removing obstacles to healing, and supporting the whole person. My goal is always to meet people exactly where they are and help them move toward greater health, resilience, clarity, and vitality with care that is personalized, practical, and rooted in both tradition and science

Kelsey Conger, MS, PMC
Clinical Herbalist + Nutritionist

I’m Kelsey, a Clinical Herbalist + Nutritionist, and founder of Heritage Apothecaries. I’ve studied and worked in a variety of settings, from forest, field, + farm to apothecary + pharmacy, garnering 10+ years of experience along the way. I believe what is good for people is good for the planet.

I work with clients 1:1 to address Lyme disease and complex chronic illness in an accessible telehealth setting. I’m a Lyme-literate practitioner with clinical training in chronic infectious and complex diseases, but my foremost knowledge comes from living with undiagnosed Lyme, Lupus, and Endometriosis for many years myself. Within this specialty, I am especially interested in gut health, the microbiome, reproductive health and fertility, immune and endocrine dysfunction, hypermobility disorders, neurodivergence, and underlying root causes that drive chronic illness and susceptibility to persistent infection.

I hold a BA in Contemplative Psychology and Environmental Studies, an MS in Clinical Herbal Medicine, a Post-Masters Certificate in Integrative Nutrition, and am currently in the final months of my Doctorate in Clinical Nutrition (DCN) program. In addition to seeing clients at the Nourishing Life Health Center, I teach classes (online + in-person) about herbalism, traditional nutrition, nature-connection, and living with chronic illness. Find me online @kelseytheherbalist to learn about cultivating, cooking, + crafting healing foods and herbal medicines!

Support Staff

Daisha Sen
Clinic Manager & Patient Support Specialist

Whether speaking with new patients, scheduling appointments, or communicating with patients about questions and concerns, I’m here to be of service in the process our clients are going through to find a more empowered relationship with their own health. Some of my background and training I call upon includes herbalism (mostly Western), health & wellness coaching, holistic chronic pain management, conflict resolution, and nutritional therapy. With over two decades of experience working in cooperative health food, I’m grateful to have found such a fitting role in my transition to holistic health. While people’s access to healthy food is still very important to me, I now enjoy supporting people on their transformative health journeys.

H.e Haugenes
Pharmacy Manager

I am the Herb Pharmacy Manager of Bloom & Reveal Botanicals, the herbal pharmacy that serves the Nourishing Life Health Center. I have experience working as a garden/outdoor educator, vegetable farmer, and beekeeper, and currently study herbalism at Arbor Vitae School of Traditional Herbalism. I find it inspiring to work at Nourishing Life Health Center, because I am surrounded by a compassionate team of knowledgeable herbalists/womxn who are transforming people’s lives in partnership with plants. Each day, I learn more about Chinese Medicine by working with the plants themselves, and I love our lush garden where I can support the herbs growing and enjoy their bounty too!
