Spending time on a Saturday at the Kingston Farmer’s Market never disappoints. It is a great place to meet local farmers and vendors of locally-made foods, meet cute dogs and cool people, and enjoy the flavor of Uptown Kingston.
Many years ago when the market was just beginning, and I was a blossoming herbal product maker, I was a vendor at the Kingston Farmers Market. I got to know many of the farmers and food vendors, and I came to appreciate the hard work it takes to grow food and make products all week, and bring it to market each Saturday. Now I am happy to support the growers, herbalists, and other crafty vendors by shopping local!
A few of my favorite vendors include Long Season Farm (whose Winter CSA keeps me happy in the kitchen all winter), Cotton Hill Creamery for goat dairy, Edenesque for organic nut milk, and Moonrise Apothecary for inspiring herbal self-care products. I have left out so many excellent vendors!
Food stamps benefits are accepted by the market so everyone has purchase power here. The Kingston Farmer’s Market is currently held at the County Courthouse parking lot throughout the summer, and keeps going throughout the winter inside at the Old Dutch Church every other Saturday December – April.
